NUCLEAR RADIATION AND NEARBY NUCLEAR EXPLOSION MONITOR

The BARS device is a standalone nuclear radiation detector that offers a wide measurement range, from background levels to lethal dose rates. Measurements are taken at two points: within the management unit and through a probe. The device is equipped with an ultra-fast detector capable of detecting nearby nuclear explosions (equivalent to 800 kT of TNT) at distances of 60-80 km. The module allows for immediate issuance of instructions to personnel and automatically switches ventilation to internal mode in the event of a detected threat.

The extended version of the BARS device also includes an optical indicator for the geographical direction of an airborne nuclear flash. Nuclear explosion detection is performed using semiconductor detectors, which minimizes the risk of damage from a nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NEMP). The device has been tested in an electric field with an intensity of up to 1 kV/m².
